Before we get into my nighttime routine, here are the everyday habits and tips I get asked about the most.
My Go-To Skincare Tips
Eat your collagen. Bone broth and eggs are staples for me.
And my non-negotiable: gua sha.
End your shower with cold water. I finish every shower with cold water, and I splash cold water on my face too.
Don't wash your face in the morning. It strips your natural oils. If you do cleanse, skip anything harsh — I use an oil-based cleanser instead.
Switch your products seasonally. I don't use the same routine all year round. I switch out my oils and serums depending on the season, and I keep it simple: only 4 products at a time.
Don't forget your neck and chest. People focus so much on their face that they skip these two spots entirely. Clean them, and do your gua sha there too.
Wear SPF every morning on your face, neck, and chest. I use the Primally Pure tinted SPF in the light color. (USE CODE DRORGANICMOMMY10) That said, I still try to get real sun exposure before 10am and after 2pm. I like wearing SPF on my face daily mostly because we're surrounded by screens.
Skip alcohol. I don't drink and I've found it shows up on my skin more than almost anything else, and cutting it out has made a real difference.
Try SiO Beauty patches. I use the chest patches since I sleep on my side, they help prevent chest wrinkles, and I also use the forehead one. Key tip: your skin needs to be completely dry before applying, or the patch won't last.
Here is an example of my nighttime routine: (I change these products often)
Step #1: Hair up and wash your hands.
Step #2: Oil-based cleanser. I use the Living Libations Best Skin Ever in Sandalwood or Seabuckthorn, 6 squirts on a wet organic cotton cloth from Josh Rosebrook to remove sunscreen and makeup (only 3 squirts if I'm not wearing makeup that day). Wipe down your entire face, and don't forget your neck.
Step #3: Eye oil for wrinkles. I use the Kora Organics Noni Eye Oil (True Botanicals Eye Serum is a great alternative). I apply it around my eyes, crow's feet, between my eyebrows, smile lines, and my tech-neck lines.
Step #4: Face oil/serum. I rotate between a few here: Furtuna Bi-Phase Moisturizing Oil, Kora Organics Noni Face Oil, Uma Oils, a bee venom serum, or Living Libations Rose CoQ10 Serum. Apply all over your face and neck.
Step #5: Nightly cream. Again, I rotate: Tata Harper, Furtuna, Living Libations, or True Botanicals, depending on what my skin needs that season.
Step #6: Use the Replenishing Balm all over my face and neck.
Step #7: Use the Wildling Gua sha. I like this brand the best. I've used several other Guasha tools, but they don't work as well for me. I like to do 20 on each side and each part, my neck and cheek.
Bonus: for pimples, I love Living Libations Zippity Dew Dab.
I know this may look like a long routine, but I timed it, and it's only about six or seven minutes. I don't do this every night; I'm lucky if maybe I do it twice a week.
