Death of a Pet

Death of a pet

πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”

The loss of a pet can be very sad. Here are some tips for language to use with young children:

β€œOur dog was very very old and her/his body stopped working.” You may go through pictures of your dog and make a book too if you want, or create a memory box of their things (collar, favorite toy/bone etc) and decorate the box with your child.

It’s important to cry and/or show your emotions in front of them. Let them know there will be times you feel sad because you miss your dog and times you will feel better.

They are so young that they will typically move on quickly.
