The Magic of Your Quiet Voice

Natasha Beck Calm Voice.png

When your child gets louder, you get quieter and calmer. You are the regulator of their emotions. When your child is in a heightened emotional state, you want to provide a calming and safe environment for them. Think of yourself as a librarian. When someone is speaking loudly, the librarian always speaks very softly and slowly and it makes you speak softer too. Before you engage with your child, take a deep breath and pause. When you start to speak, do so in a calming soft tone. This will provide a safe environment for your child to express their feelings.
