Expo West 2024

Rows upon rows of colorful booths filled with snacks and surrounded by thousands of people sharing a passion for incredible food... This is my Disneyland. Or Emily says it’s our Super Bowl? Regardless, it was an exhausting yet exhilarating three days at Expo, and I am thrilled to share all my favorites with you. This was our sixth or seventh year attending, and I must say, I was particularly impressed by two things this year:

Firstly, the incredible mom founders who seem to be doing it all! Secondly, the abundance of signs promoting regenerative organic farming practices. Witnessing this commitment to sustainable agriculture warmed my heart and gave me hope for the future.

But let's dive into the products...

Avafina Organics Chiaviar vegan cream cheese with vegan caviar is an amazing blend of chia, seaweed, and lemon. I can’t say enough about how much I love this. It is only available in Canada now but I am praying someone starts carrying it in the states soon! Natural Grocers can you hear me?

Cocobear raw organic coconut water with meat, you don’t have to have the plastic water bottle anymore. This is a great source of electrolytes. Also, this booth definitely had the largest crowd.

The founder of Just Date, Sylvie,  is an MD. I love their date syrup and their date sugar. They came out with vegan organic dark chocolate chips, which are seriously amazing.  They also have a milk chocolate version which is made with oat milk. Throw it on your kids’ oatmeal if they won't eat the veggie-loaded oatmeal. These are at Whole Foods and will be on the website soon.

Burroughs Family Farms regeneratively grown almonds are incredible. I tried this three-ingredient pumpkin spice almond butter, and wow it is so good!! You don’t need candy anymore because this is candy in a jar. These are on amazon and on their website.

Big Picture Foods is regeneratively farmed and has minimal ingredients. When foods are regeneratively grown there is no need to add more ingredients to it. They offer both shelf and refrigerated items. It’s going to be at Sprouts and online.

New find, Pacha (use code DRORGANICMOMMY) is an amazing regeneratively grown gluten-free bread. It has two ingredients; organic sprouted buckwheat, making it easily digestible and sea salt. Emily’s cousin gave us a tip…it has to be toasted! That is key here!

Green Girl Bakeshop is a vegan plant based ice cream that is delicious. It is grain free and made with good ingredients.

Philosopher Foods (use code DRORGANICMOMMY) regenerative fermented cashew and almond nuts. They taste amazing and I can't go through them enough.

Seedly organic dark chocolate seed bark on Amazon. I love finding ideas especially for Easter around the corner and for little treats for your kids to have. It has great ingredients, the only added sugar comes from unrefined organic coconut sugar, so I am good with this.

123Dough sourdough noodles, the ingredients are amazing and the taste is so on point.

Wild Orchard Teas black matcha is a powdered form of the black tea leaf turned into a latte by adding a preferred milk. It is a great alternative for coffee lovers. The process involves putting it under low temperature for a long period of time to reduce carcinogens.  I stopped by this booth again and have to say his loose teas are incredible. The Sunday Brunch is so good, regenerative and organic.

Lundberg Family Farms regenerative organic brown jasmine rice 90 second rice that you can heat up in a pot or microwave it in a glass bowl. (I prefer the stove top). I love that last year, they became the first U.S.-grown rice brand to launch Regenerative Organic Certified rice. And also, congratulations to them for their Organic Oscar tonight! (Believe it or not that's a thing).

My Forest Foods My Bacon is available now only on the East Coast, coming soon to the West Coast. It's vegan and has really good ingredients; Organic mushroom mycelium, organic coconut oil, organic sugar, natural flavor, salt.  The natural flavors are a proprietary blend of their smoked flavors. I tried it and it’s really good!

I often get questions about which greens I recommend and now I can suggest the Organic Traditions Super Greens. It was created to help encourage people to take it daily and love the taste. It is affordable and impactful for health and wellness. Comes in different flavors and is great for travel when you can’t get all the greens in.

Yum Earth does not have any artificial dyes in their candies. They have blue candy canes and organic sour littles coming out in a few months that will replace the sour patch kids. Yes, it is still sugar but if you are going to eat sugar, make sure you have the ones that are dye free. They have an Easter egg hunt kit where the candy is placed in Easter eggs that are made from recycled yogurt cups.

Their frozen foods are incredible, I tried their pasta, it was so yummy! They came out with ice pops that have no sugar, no emulsifiers, no additives. The company is passionate about making real food using real ingredients. I love the founder Rachel, she is one of my besties.

Force of Nature meats regenerative meatballs will be available in a month or two in Whole Foods nationwide. Regenerative means no pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, whatsoever. (with organic you can have up to about 30 different pesticides). With regenerative farming, there's no tilling in the soil so the soil is healthier. It means the animals are eating more nutrient dense foods and you are getting more nutrients in your body that you can absorb. They have cover crops so they don’t actually have to spray anything on the crops because nothing is getting destroyed. I love that!

Malk Organics has a creamer line that is coming out. These are gum free and they have the right amount of sweetness in it with only two grams of added sugar and it comes from vanilla sugar in the vanilla creamer.  For those of you who crave creamers, avoid the ones with emulsifiers, additives and artificial dyes and get this one instead.

Pan’s mushroom jerky is the OG of mushroom jerky made with coconut sugar. It is such a delicious snack. I love that I can have it in my bag and it won’t go bad.

Wella Foods grain free cereal is a new find. It is really good with all organic ingredients like almonds, coconut, dates, apples, flaxseed, coconut flour, chia seeds, sunflower seeds, cinnamon and sea salt. It's great like your instant oatmeal without all of the ingredients that you don’t want. Easy for your kids.

Chosen Foods, you know their avocado oil is super pure but they came out with a “Nutella” version without all of the horrible ingredients.  This hazelnut spread is currently on Amazon and will be available at Sprouts in May.

Solely is my favorite brand! The founder, Simone, is so passionate about healthy food for kids and getting great products for them. These have no added sugar, literally it is just fruit. I don’t know how he did it but he created some kind of amazing technology. The new one is blueberry in the jerky and the gummies. Your kids will love it!

Love Bird is a Dr. Organic Mommy approved cereal. The founder wanted to create something better for his children than the traditional ones in the market. They are regen organic certified which means that it's more nutritious and is not devoid of the soil minerals.

Justin's dark chocolate peanut butter candy pieces are dye free and dyed with vegetables. It is available at Whole Foods nationwide and Natural Grocers. It is the only one out there that is organic. If you are going to give your kids sugar, give them this better alternative. They taste so delicious.
