Kindness Advent Calendar Ideas

Instead of giving treats or little toys for advent, we prefer to have our children pick an act of kindness out. We divvy it up between family, friends, neighbors, community and our world.

Here are some ideas below:

Family

  • Knit/crochet/draw something for a family member

  • Surprise a family member by helping them with a responsibility

  • Let mommy and daddy sleep in

  • Make a family members bed

Friends

  • Make an appreciation card for a friend

  • Leave a kind note on a friends desk or backpack and say why you like them

  • Help a friend with homework/drawing/crafting

  • Make a snack bag for a friend

  • Give a friend a compliment

Neighbors

  • Bake cookies for neighbors

  • Clean up the leaves in a neighbors yard

  • Leave a kind note on a neighbors door

  • Make a bird feeder with a pine cone to help your animal neighbors

  • Bring flowers to a lonely neighbor

Community

  • Leave an envelope of money in the grocery store to help someone out

  • Hold the door open for someone

  • Adopt a family for the holidays

  • Drop off holiday treats at local fire station

  • Bring flowers to your local librarian

  • Make a snack bag for your trash person

  • Give a stranger a compliment

*This is the calendar I love from Etsy , however it is no longer available. Here are some wooden advent calendar options. Note: I have not purchased any of these alternatives so I am not sure of the quality.
