Processing the Day

Is it your instinct to ask your child how their day was or what they did when they first get into the car after school?
🚙🚙🚙
What some may not realize is that when your child gets into your car and you bombard them with questions (How was your day? Who did you play with? What did you eat? What did you do?), it can be quite overwhelming and intimidating. Rather than rushing to ask questions, let them sit and take in the day.
✨✨✨
When you're putting your child to sleep, you may think that they are stalling you by going through what happened at school/during the day. When in fact, this is your child's way of processing what happened and giving them closure.
If you're not the one that picks up your child at school, when you get in the door- don't interrupt your child's play, rather get down on their level and let them come to you when they are ready. Don't bombard them with questions at this point either because most likely they will be in the middle of playing or bath time, etc. This is analogous to an adult being inundated with questions before having your morning coffee ☕️
